Springfield City Youth Mission (SCYM) is dedicated to helping city school students thrive spiritually, educationally, socially, and physically. With the support of over 300 volunteers, SCYM serves more than 600 students annually, providing creative, impactful programs that foster positive growth and meaningful relationships.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is grounded in the teachings of Christ, aiming to bridge local churches and urban youth while creating safe, hope-filled spaces where every student is known, valued, and listened to.

After School Programs

Our afterschool programs provide middle school boys and girls with a safe, supportive environment to explore topics like health, self-esteem, wise decision-making, and relationships. Through a mix of Bible studies, physical activities, and mentorship, students engage with positive role models from local universities and churches. Whether it’s playing basketball, cooking healthy meals, or discussing life issues, these programs foster growth and build community.

Reading Clubs

Our reading clubs, like Camp Boost, offer a unique blend of educational support and faith-based fun for elementary students. Partnering with local churches, these programs ensure students stay engaged in literacy enrichment activities during the summer and afterschool. Kids get a reading boost while participating in activities that nurture both their academic and spiritual growth, all in a caring environment.

Student Mentorship

Through mentorship programs like one-on-one and Wise Guys, we provide students with trusted, long-term relationships with adults who care about their success. Meeting weekly, mentors offer guidance on everything from academics to life skills, helping students make wise choices, set goals, and build self-confidence. These supportive friendships empower students to thrive both in and outside the classroom.
