Give a Springfield kid a reading “BOOST” this summer

What if you took a week this summer to join with a great team of people of all ages, to pull together to help kids with reading in the short term, and to “help kids crush the odds with the love of God” in the long term? Oh, and what if it was also a LOT of fun and really meaningful at the same time? (Work, yes, but definitely fun.)

If you feel a “YES” or a “TELL ME MORE” coming on, then we have got just the thing for you: Camp Boost Summer Reading Clubs!

There are THREE Camp Boosts going on in Springfield this summer, and we’re praying for 150 (!) people to be involved between the three camps. The times and dates are:

July 14-18 @ High Street Church of the Nazarene
July 28-August 1 @ Clifton Avenue Church of God
July 28-August 1 @ St. John Missionary Baptist Church

YES, that is two camps happening the same week. YES, we may be slightly insane … but we’re taking a deep breath and jumping in.

Who do we need to be involved in Camp Boost? Parents, grandparents, great grandparents, adults, teens, high school students, college students, middle school students, anyone who loves kids … did we cover all the bases?

What kind of people do we need at Camp Boost? Teachers, classroom assistants (lots of them), registration people, cooks and food prep people, security team, parent workshop assistants, and more. If you have a gift, we’ll figure out a place for you!

What do I do next? Definitely let us know if you’d like to be involved. You can email us at SCYMinistries@gmail.com, or call our office at 325-6183.

For Clifton Camp Boost, there are two training options coming up: Thursday, June 12 at 10 am -OR- Tuesday, June 17 at 10 am, both at Clifton Avenue Church of God (1408 Clifton Ave., Springfield.) There will also be an optional planning session for anyone interested, on July 1 at 10 am. In the meantime, if you’ve got questions, give us a call or email!

Join the fun, and spread the word to anyone you know who’s looking for a great and meaningful experience this summer. Together we can help kids “crush the odds” with reading this summer!

  1. Can you please email me the times of the camps? I have a little girl that I mentored during the school year thru the Kids Hope Ministry that could really use this type of camp to help her with her reading. Thanks for what you are doing with the youth of Springfield!

p.s. Do you happen to have a brochure with all the information that I could give to her grandma?
